Settling Into Your Off-Campus Housing: A Move-In Guide

Excited to trade dorm life for off-campus adventures? Or maybe you’re a graduate student moving to Ithaca for the first time. Let's make your move-in a breeze! Here's a quick guide to get you settled into one of our units at Ferris Place Rentals.

Prep Work Before Move-In

Before you unpack your entire life, there are a few things to check off your list:

  • Utilities: Team up with your roommates to set up electricity (NYSEG) and internet (Spectrum) before your lease starts on August 7th. Your New Tenant Orientation packet has all the details.

  • Insurance: Protect your belongings with renter’s insurance. It’s optional but highly recommended. Check out Cornell's website for more info.

Move-In Day and Beyond

  • Key Situation: Your move-in day is August 7th, starting at 11 AM. We’ll send out an email the day you move-in with details on where to get your keys.

  • Timing is Everything: Let us know when you plan to move in so we can keep track. Also, set up automatic rent payments on Apartments.com to avoid any late fees.

  • Home Sweet Home: We'll inspect your place before you move in and send you a move-in/move-out report. Just review, sign, and return it to us.

  • Sweet Dreams: All bedrooms except Room 2-1 have full-size beds. Don’t forget to pack the appropriate sized sheets!

If you have any questions or need extra guidance, feel free to reach out. Happy moving!
